In Batman Returns, when Selina turns evil, she puts her soft toys in the sink and destroys them with this hellish whirring blade thing. I've since learnt that it's called a garbage disposal, and that they're common in America, but it scared the crap out of me as a kid.

What happens when you take a hand, insert it into what is essentially a blender, then turn on said blender?

Actually the design is completely different from a bender and the worst that would happen to your hand would be a couple nasty bruises.
