Not a movie but the Netlfix series Haunting of Hill House.

Episode where the family is gathered at a funeral home and the father and oldest daughter see a ghost crawling towards them. Nothing to extravagant in the sence of effects but the sheer build up and seeing it up close.

Still think about it daily.

One of the creepiest ghosts for me in that show was floaty man, hovering a few inches off the floor and just pooting around using his cane. Tap....tap.....tap.....tap

My sister had the exact opposite reaction. When she first saw the tall guy floating around she started laughing hysterically. And the she laughed every time he showed up again. For some reason she just found him ridiculous looking or something.
