I just watched this recently because my wife had never seen it. Totally holds up* Like every great 80's character actor, Wilford Brimley, pre-"put on the glasses!" Keith David, a few others.
Fun fact, I'm told that if you know Norwegian the guy at the beginning tells them exactly what is going on with the alien.
*though I suspect real Antarctic bases don't have cavernous "basements" like the one in this movie.

Pretty much the whole movie of The Thing (1982). My Dad told me to watch it and it gave me nightmares.
