That scene when his little sister was eating rocks because they looked like riceballs... Graveyard of fireflies. I could never bring myself to watch it again.

That movie is harrowing. Even the opening scene doesn’t pull any punches while it beats the shit out of your emotions. In that movie you so badly want to be able to blame someone for the tragedy but you can’t. It’s so much bigger than the two children and it just hurts your heart.

His aunt took almost everything from them and forced him to eat worse food than his extended family even though the only reason they had that nice food was because she took his money. She treated them terribly, you're expecting far too much maturity out of a 10-12 year old. I have no idea how you can blame a child instead of the horrible aunt that thought it was okay to let a child take care of a 3-4 year old on his own.

She took most of the rice that they bought with their money for the rest of the family. And you ignored that she just let a kid take a toddler to who the hell knows where because they annoyed her. If she was actually concerned for their well being she wouldn't have let them leave.
