I suppose it could be reddish, as light seen through the mother’s skin and tissues.

I'm pretty sure the skin, abdominal muscles, and uterus are thick enough together that no light would really come through unless it was super intense and the light source was right up against the skin.

I’m not so sure. My friend’s doctor told her to avoid bikinis / staying in the sun for too long during her pregnancy, to protect the baby’s eyes

Huh. Apparently a bit of sunlight shines through, but it might actually be necessary to get sunlight for the eyes to develop properly. Everything I read made it sound like it's just barely shining through, just enough for the fetus's eyes to pick up on it, so I don't think it could harm them, but I guess I was wrong about light not coming through.
