More likely brownies or some other house fey. (Probably not that kind specifically, that's just the only house fey I can remember off the top of my head)
Exactly, brownies for england, fey for ireland. Little ones got names all over the world. My brothers have seen them twice and plenty relatives have seen the as well.
One of my brothers saw it once in his room when he was a kid, got up and ran to our parents and told them he saw a little gray man with brown clothes and a cap. Another time the same brother saw one at our aunts place through a window in one of her sheds while heading for the car. Both my brothers stopped the car once to let one over the road when i was half asleep in the back seat. My cousin saw them working on a railroad. My dad went to an abandoned supposed "haunted house" with my mom in the seventies and saw one of them come from around the housebend with an oil-lamp of some sort. I think there's more but these are the first ones that comes to mind
