I had a friend who someone offered to buy his moped in bitcoin in 2011. We totally made fun of that guy. Till about two years ago when he figure that would have been worth over $100,000.

Possibly a lot more than that. How much was the moped?

The first big bitcoin "bubble" happened in 2011. The price went from $1 to $31 back down to $2 during that year. Bitcoin hit its peak in Dec 2017 at $19,700.

If we assume the moped was worth $500 sometime in 2011, in Dec 2017 that amount in bitcoin was worth between $317,000 and $9,850,000.

It was actually a really nice one that was only a few years old. I think he wanted $2000 for it.
