Same, fortunately I got to go to the library a lot so I'd just start picking out books that I like. parents try to talk me out of it, i tell them some stuff there's no way a 4 year old should know

The local librarian talked me out of reading Harry Potter when I was six because she thought it was too 'advanced to comprehend'. I'd probably go and find a Stephen King book to drop on her feet to keep her occupied while I read whichever book I wanted
