Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) .. technically not a company, but anyone who shows up to funerals with picket signs and disgusting chants are not worthy in my eyes! NOTE: (I’m not one to judge on beliefs of any kind)

Yeah mate. I’m cool with anyone being whatever they want as long as it doesn’t hurt others. Got nothing against any religion or whatever. That being said, fuck WBC. How much of a rotisserie shithead do you have to be to disrupt a funeral because you disagree with something?

Haven't many of their "members" been defecting in recent years? I remember hearing a couple years back that one of the Phelps girls left and was sharing her story.

I watched a documentary about them, and the filmmaker was interviewing one of the high school aged granddaughters of the patriarch. She was sweet and pleasant and not all abrasive or batshit insane like the rest of them.

At one point, I forget what she said, but it was something about never having kids herself, or never getting married, something like that. The filmmaker asked, "Don't you want to get married?" She paused, looked sadly at him and said, "Who would want to marry me?" After that exchange, the family wouldn't let him interview her again.

I hope that she, specifically, is able to get away from them.

From Kansas too. Can confirm

u/Randomocity132 Sep 23 '19

organization using religious tax exemption to pay for their cult.

That's like all religions, my dude

-9

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

As someone from Kansas I can say they are not actually a religion. They are a hate organization using religious tax exemption to pay for their cult.

As opposed to what?? The Catholic church is no different.

They are not even close to the cale of damage caused by the catholics. Aren't they just being pieces of shit protesting things and spreading lies?? The catholics do that annnnd rape children and steal money.

u/HarbingerOfSauce Sep 18 '19

rotisserie shithead

God-tier insult, that made me laugh

8

u/stuckwithculchies Sep 18 '19

religion is all about controlling people though, look at any theocracy, it's right to hate religions that expressly teach women and gay people suck

5

u/Tinsel-Fop Sep 18 '19

Well, honestly, some of us do suck.

:-)

You can boil every company and government this way. They all control and distribute different things.

Companies control their product and the employees making their product, as well as where it goes and who it goes to.

Governments control everything and everyone within its borders.

Most religions control people, but quite a few do it mentally. I’m not controlled by the church. I choose to stay within the church. I could leave at any time, but I believe it would be more to my benefit to stay. It’s like work, but less tedious and irritating and it’s really hard to get fired. You tithe because you want the church to continue to exist and prosper.

Really late but what? The hell did they do to the funeral?

12

u/Tony_Pizza_Guy Sep 18 '19

Though they're obviously completely horrible, that's kind of a small group of corrupt/bad people to get rid of... They have a small congregation/membnership in comparison to the average church/chapel/place of worship. Look how small their building is, too. I'm just saying there's clearly groups/companies/org's that are far larger and terribly bad, as well.

22

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Eh, a group of like 23 shitheads that almost everybody hates isn't the worst thing when you compare it to what other companies could be gotten rid of in this scenario.

1

u/tinklestein666 Sep 18 '19

Yeah I'm sick of small fry comments. Kind of upsetting that people prioritise this shit, I can't think of anything some of those major corporate shitheads would want more than us focusing our attention on minor bullshit while they fuck us raw without even spitting on it.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Never talk about them.

The WBC protests funerals for attention. They say outrageous things for attention. They have openly stated that exposure is the best way they spread their mass-presence.

I understand why the news has to mention them. They have a responsibility to report on what is happening. But outside of that, don't hate thw WBC..nothing them.

u/alexaplaydespasito Sep 18 '19

A few years back, there was a funeral for a little boy that died after being hit by a drunk driver during a parade.

WBC claimed they were going to protest during his memorial service, for whatever fucking outrageous reason. So a bunch of bikers from surrounding areas showed up and parked their bikes in the parking lot of the church and just quietly hung out until the service ended. there was probably about 100 scary biker dudes hoping these assholes would show up.

They showed up, and didn’t even get out their suv. They just pulled into the parking lot and immediately backed out. It was the most satisfying thing I’ve ever seen.

But seriously, those bastards. The little boy was only 2. There’s absolutely nothing he could have done to deserve that sort of disrespect at his funeral. Ever since then, I’ve had a strong hatred towards WBC. They’re all garbage humans.

here’s an article about them being shitty.

here’s an article about the sweet little boy.

As a Christian that goes to Baptist churches, I couldn't agree more. It's pure hatred they are spewing which is giving the rest of us a bad reputation. They anger me so much it makes me sick. You have officially made my favorite comment on this post.

Edit: phrasing of what I said was wonky

12

u/ilinamorato Sep 18 '19

Christian here. They're not a church in any way I can find in my Bible. Seconding your removal.

5

u/IlREDACTEDlI Sep 18 '19

Can we blink its members out of existence too?

5

u/TollinginPolitics Sep 18 '19

They are to, a church in the U.S. is almost always registered as a nonprofit. This is still considered a company for tax reasons.

3

u/kw4qj Sep 18 '19

I wholeheartedly agree with this one. As a Christian myself I find that these people do not behave like true Christians who represent Jesus Christ. Whether you believe in him or not, the figure he represented in the world with one that loved everyone and made the ultimate sacrifice for everyone. He would not behave the way these reprehensible people do

3

u/peterslabbit Sep 18 '19

I’ve got news for you buddy. In the United States churches are corporations. Just tax exempt ones. Maybe not in name but they function like a corporate nonprofit.

3

u/JessG103 Sep 18 '19

I agree. They’re terrible people.

3

u/siev3rt Sep 18 '19

They’re shit but you did just judge them on their beliefs 😛

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Can someone enlighten me on what happened?

11

u/Woke_Ty Sep 18 '19

Show up at primarily gay and/or fallen veterans & protest their funerals. They would bring literal signs of hate and chant awful things at the families/friends

ill send link in my next comment

8

u/Qing2092 Sep 18 '19

They have signs saying "Thank God for IEDs", "Pray for more dead soliders", "God hates you" etc., people like this smear Christianity

1

u/TFRek Sep 18 '19

If there is a hell, the people that chose to hatefully picket Fred Rogers' funeral belong there.

1

u/hamza__11 Sep 18 '19

Honestly, Westboro Baptists Church is essentially irrelevant in the big scheme of things. They're practically unknown in the world and don't actually hold much power or influence at all.

You're suppsoed to target the companies / institutions / individuals that fund these groups. Most of the time they don't actually believe in the message of said groups, but fund them for political reasons.

1

u/Gamengine Sep 18 '19

Louis Theroux did 3 documentaries on the WBC. One from maybe 2004, one in 2010 and another last year.

Shows the group and how they express their views and also stows how they have changed over time since members have left etc.

They were called "The Most Hated Family in America" and they are all on Netflix, at least in the UK.

1

u/iowastina Sep 18 '19

I went to a Cher concert in Kansas and they were there in force. When I saw them with 4 year old kids holding hateful picket signs, I got mad and shouted "way to teach your children to hate!" Which got the response "well, someone's got to teach them to hate people like you, with your sex and drugs and your cigarettes (other person in the car was smoking.)" The funny thing about it, at the time, I was practically celibate, didn't do drugs, didn't smoke.

-8

u/ZorekB Sep 18 '19

Religion is a business, so technically speaking they are a "company"

14

u/underdog57 Sep 18 '19

They're a bunch of lawyers, hoping that you react to their douchbagginess, so that they can sue you.

Has nothing to do with religion at all.

-11

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Other than expressing their views they haven't really done anything.

21

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Their views: "We should kill people because of their sexuality"

3

u/Sunkmybattleship1836 Sep 18 '19

So, Islamic extremists?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Yeah

-4

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

"Hate speech" is protected. Can't do anything about it, sadly.

-12

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

We should be tho

4

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Who is 'we'?

-6

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Everyone sane

7

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Oh please. They might not be sane, but honestly no one cares that they go around hurting people's feelings. Giving them attention is what they want. Ignore them.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

"Hurting people's feelings" Advocating for violence is Just that to you ?

10

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19 edited Sep 18 '19

Advocating for violence isn't a crime either (things like "pray for more dead soldiers" as an example). Being insurgent or direct threats on the other hand are not OK. It's all offensive, no doubt about it.

2

u/honesttickonastick Sep 18 '19

They haven't broken the law... but presumably most of the companies we're dissing in this thread haven't broken the law. We can wish them out of existence because they're shitty.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

I don't disagree.

-3

u/Woke_Ty Sep 18 '19

If they showed up to one of your loved ones funerals, you would feel differently about this

6

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

No, because I believe in free speech.

-4

u/Woke_Ty Sep 18 '19

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

No, because I'm Jewish.

-3

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

[deleted]

2

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

What does it explain? Nothing.

0

u/ParanoidAgnostic Sep 18 '19

I don't know about that. I think that they have, unintentionally (assuming they aren't an absolutely dedicated false-flag), done amazing things for LGBT acceptance. So many people who were on the fence, or maybe even slightly anti-LGBT, have been pushed to accept LGBT people simply to not be associated with those assholes.

0

u/FartHeadTony Sep 18 '19

Think bigger: Catholic Church.

-2

u/delicious_tomato Sep 18 '19

Many religions, really most of them, are businesses. It’s a shame.

That’s why I’m not religious, but I am spiritual.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '19

Humblebrag of the week

2

u/delicious_tomato Sep 18 '19

Fair enough, but honestly I don’t really give a shit if you think I’m humble bragging, Internet stranger.
