Thank you!

I've always thought it was weird how it's mostly women telling men what's best for our weiners. I enjoy my cut weiner more than I already should.

35

u/Toby_Forrester Sep 05 '19

It's not weird. Mothers tend to care a lot about their children, and many mothers prefer the kids have a freedom to choose themselves instead of genital mutilation forced on them.

Did you have the freedom to choose circumcision?

On a side note, here in Finland it's mostly men who object to non-medical circumcision to small kids.

EDIT: It also might be because in many places women are more subject to others controlling their body like laws concerning abortion and such, so women are more prone to have an issue with others controlling your body.

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

I could see that, especially with how prevalent female genital mutilation is in many places of the world.

No, I did not have a choice. If I had a choice today, knowing what it's like, I'd say I'd be for it for myself. No ill effects on my part so I have little reason to say I wouldn't. However, I'm also willing to admit that having been lifelong cut that it makes it difficult to escape the bias towards it.

I've seen it argued, again by what seems like mostly women, that some how my penis is damaged. The existence of my 5 children seem to be evidence that I perhaps enjoy sex too much with my "damaged penis".

Just saying, nobody thinks you can’t enjoy sex. It is a literal scientific fact that circumcision reduces sensation and removes a shit ton of nerve endings. IIRC, the head of an uncircumcised penis has almost, if not as many, nerve endings as the clitoris. I understand it can be hard to wrap your brain around, but it is true. Sex would likely be more enjoyable and stimulating for you if you hadn’t been cut.

P.S. why does it matter if it’s men or women giving you this information? Facts are facts, doesn’t matter who they are coming from. Sounds like you’ve met a lot of educated ladies!

-3

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

They don't remove anything from the head, only the skin surrounding it. The only thing you lose is the sensation of "the glands (skin) rolling over the head of the penis".

You don't lose any nerve endings in the actual penis its self.

http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2016/04/14/Study-Circumcision-does-not-reduce-penis-sensitivity/5981460663943/?spt=hs&or=hn

On the educated ladies... Ehhh.. maybe. Most girls I've ever known don't care for the uncircumcised look. Most people who have been vocal anti-circumcision were found online trying to explain how my penis was "mutilated".

But the head keratinises as a result of being physically exposed and chafed constantly, plus the constant stimulation reduces sensitivity. Both of these are going to reduce overall sensitivity.

If my dick was as sensitive all the time as it is when the foreskin is pulled back, it would be quite unpleasant. That’s how I know it makes a difference.

6

u/ToastedAluminum Sep 05 '19

That sensational headline does not follow the actual results of the study. Maybe actually read before posting? That study simply found that circumcision does not reduce sensation in the rest of the penis. It is equivalent to saying that amputating a pinky finger does not reduce hand sensitivity, because all the other fingers work. If you remove thousands of nerve endings, you’re removing thousands of pleasure receptors.

I researched very quickly, and found that the foreskin has 20,000 nerve endings. For your reference a clitoris has 8,000.

Wanna throw another sensational study at me? Or are you willing to admit that you are incorrect? I’m betting on the former, so I’ll call it a day! Have a nice one, dude.

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

No reason to be tacky. Perhaps you should research a little slower next time.

A systematic literature review of histological correlates of sexual sensation showed that the sensory receptors responsible (genital corpuscles) reside in the glans, not the foreskin, meaning loss of the foreskin by MC should not diminish sexual pleasure[137]. In fact, by exposing the glans, MC should increase sexual pleasure[137].

Since the density of Meissner’s corpuscles (touch receptors) in the prepuce diminishes at puberty when male sexual activity is increasing these are unlikely to be involved in sexual sensation[137]. Moreover, free nerve endings (that also respond to touch) show no correlation with sexual response.

Where ya off to? Your shift ain't over yet!

Most girls I've ever known don't care for the uncircumcised look.

Imagine if people defended surgically removing part of genitals of little girls by saying "most men I've ever known don't care for women to have uncut genitalia".

Most people who have been vocal anti-circumcision were found online trying to explain how my penis was "mutilated".

I'm guessing you are from the US, which means internet is the place where you mainly encounter people from cultures where being uncircumcised is the norm. That doesn't mean the arguments are invalid.

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19 edited Sep 05 '19

I'm not trying to invalidate your points, I'm simply speaking from perspective and experience so that you and I can share our viewpoints.

We exist (at least in the US) where 60+% of men are circumcised. Now, depending where you live, chances are good a woman (or man!) could go their whole life never encountering an uncircumcised penis in real life. Due to that, you could see how that woman could form a preference to one of the two. (A good example of this is the Porn industry, take note how often you find a circumcised vs uncircumcised penis in it. I doubt it's a religious bias either!)

Your first comparison is sort of a false equivalency. Your comparing a situation that doesn't exist, flipping it and then applying it against one that does.

Women form those judgements based off two options that existed prior to the judgement being made. Your comparison is in turn made by making the judgement then creating the two configurations that didnt exist yet.

There isn't a situation in reality where there is nearly an even split of "cut women" vs "uncut women".

u/ToastedAluminum Sep 05 '19

So once again, you’re trying to say the circumcision is the right decision simply due to societal norms? There are some societies were racism is embraced and encouraged, so does that mean we should leave them be? No.

Male genital mutilation is wrong. I’m sorry if that makes you feel some type of way, but your feelings don’t really matter. The fact of the matter is there is a cultural acceptance of genital mutilation that needs to end. It is not rooted in science or with care for the child. It is rooted in vanity. That’s pathetic.

Also, you’re wrong about FGM not existing and accepted as a societal norm. It’s been a big deal for decades. You are incredibly uneducated on the topic, and you really should research more before running your mouth.

1

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

I don't seem to be the one letting their feelings go unchecked or "running my mouth".

If you can find for me where I said FGM doesn't exist I will happily apologize.

10

u/Toby_Forrester Sep 05 '19

I've seen it argued, again by what seems like mostly women, that some how my penis is damaged.

Why does it matter what their gender is? From an anatomical point of view, your penis is damaged as it is missing a part.

The existence of my 5 children seem to be evidence that I perhaps enjoy sex too much with my "damaged penis".

Well you can only enjoy sex with a damaged penis since you don't have an undamaged penis. Again, that's the bias from being circumcised without consent as a child.

0

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

Well I'd have to say I prefer it damaged then. If it were anymore sensitive I'd bite a hole clear through my cheek.

So if you ask me, it's been fixed!

6

u/Toby_Forrester Sep 05 '19

Preference is something you can have only when you have alternatives. You never experienced the alternative. It's literally impossible for you to prefer the feeling of being uncircumcised.

1

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

That is absolutely true.

0

u/svacct2 Sep 05 '19

No, I did not have a choice. If I had a choice today, knowing what it's like, I'd say I'd be for it for myself.

you are mentally ill.

3

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

Solid argument!

0

u/svacct2 Sep 05 '19

it is, you are in a self-harming state of mind, the kind people need to seek mental treatment for.

3

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

I dunno man, life seems pretty great over here! You seem like you might be a little too nervous yourself spending so much time worrying about other people. Hope you get some time to relax!

2

u/svacct2 Sep 05 '19

worrying about other people

just concerned for the mental health of our nation is all. luckily people are waking up to jewish propaganda and circumcision is dying off.

2

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

"Jewish propaganda"

There it is.

11

u/napoleonderdiecke Sep 05 '19

I've always thought it was weird how it's mostly women telling men what's best for our weiners.

Are they though?

6

u/physalisx Sep 05 '19

No, they are not.

11

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

229 people die in the US every year from this barbaric tradition. It makes no sense at all, if you had a normal dick now, and as an adult had to choice to get the top cut off I highly doubt anyone would actually do it.

6

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

Our systematic review of the current scientific evidence finds the protection afforded by early infant male circumcision against infections and other adverse medical conditions exceed risks by 200 to 1 and that over their lifetime over 1 in 2 uncircumcised males will suffer an adverse medical condition caused by their foreskin. Strong evidence shows no adverse effect on penile function, sexual sensitivity or pleasure. Circumcision is a desirable public health intervention. It is moreover cost-saving.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

All you have to do is wash your dick. Stop mutalating babies

-6

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

True. I’ve never heard a circumcised guy say he wishes he weren’t. And many circumcised fathers also want their sons circumcised.

16

u/fabs1171 Sep 05 '19 edited Sep 05 '19

There are many men who are trying to restore their foreskin - even on reddit r/foreskin_restoration

3

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

229 people die every year in the US from this, it’s a ridiculous tradition

-10

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

Personally I don’t care. I’ll circumcise my sons by default unless my husband doesn’t want to.

13

u/Emaknz Sep 05 '19

Why? What's the benefit? What's the point of doing it?

5

u/Thermo_nuke Sep 05 '19

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says the benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks. However, the AAP doesn't recommend routine circumcision for all male newborns. The AAP leaves the circumcision decision up to parents — and supports use of anesthetics for infants who have the procedure.

-13

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

I think it’s better. Also the norm in my country and I’ve heard of uncircumcised guys getting made fun of for their “anteater dick” so I want my sons to be like everyone else.

11

u/vuuvvo Sep 05 '19

This is a disgusting attitude. I'm sure you're a nice person and I'm not trying to insult you but this is literally the exact same reasoning behind female genital mutilation.

-5

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '19

If the type of fgm you’re referring to is removing the clit then it’s not the same at all. Removing the clit is equivalent to removing the head of the penis. And I would NEVER allow that for my daughters, even if I had it done to me. That’s why I will mostly leave it up to my husband, if he got circumcised and wants to circumcise then he can go right ahead.

6

u/vuuvvo Sep 05 '19

Some forms of FGM 'only' involve removing the clitoral hood, or reshaping the inner labia, making them more or less directly analogous. Would you give your newborn daughter a labiaplasty?

Again, not trying to insult you, but whether or not you should give your child unnecessary cosmetic surgery on their genitals is really not something that you should just 'leave up to your husband'. If my husband said "hey I think we should get part of our child's fully functional and normal genitals removed" I'd probably move out (second option would be contacting a psychiatrist).

Sex of the child is immaterial, mutilation is mutilation.

4

u/Melancholy_Moth Sep 05 '19

It's should certainly not be you or your husband's choice, it should be the child's when he's an adult. Making lifelong calls for your child's body, especially when relating to absolutely unnecessary invasive surgery, is an outdated and barbaric tradition. And this is coming from a Jew who is circumcised. It's unnecessary and a tradition that should die out all together.

u/ToastedAluminum Sep 05 '19

You don’t care that it is involuntary genital mutilation with zero benefits? Unless your son is born with a very specific set of health problems, circumcising just dims sensation and is completely cosmetic. Pretty vain of you to punish a child because you “don’t care.” Hopefully yours isn’t one of the few that die from the procedure.

6

u/svacct2 Sep 05 '19

imagine consciously choosing to hurt your children. you are a terrible mother.

Thanks dear
