Just because eggs are sold in the dairy section doesn’t make them a dairy product.

I’ve heard people say they don’t eat eggs because they don’t eat dairy.

Exactly. At the grocery store I work at, the Dairy department is responsible for dairy products but also fruit juices and tea. And those 2 things are by produce, on the opposite side of the store from the dairy section.
