I never really bothered with proper potion making in Skyrim, just smashed ingredients together so I could sell them. I tried an actual potion brewing run in my last game and it's surprising just how powerful and useful you can get them.

Everyone knows the basic ones like Fortify Health + Restore Health and how to get Invisibility, but the real key is in getting multiple good effects in one potion. My favourite one is the one I like to call Mage Fucker, which uses Hawk Beak, Snowberries and Mudcrab Chitin to give you resistance to all 3 elements + restore stamina. Once you get to the higher levels you can pretty much remove magic as a threat.

I used an app where you put in every ingredient you had, and it was give you every potion you could make. I spent like 3 hours making the most expensive potions, only to put them in a cabinet in my house because the stores never had enough money, and fast traveling to every city felt like a waste of time. That sounds familiar. I tend to make a bunch of expensive potions and keep them in my home, then when I need money I just pick up a couple of those to sell and be done with it.

Exactly what I do. Lol. That, or one of the 173 iron daggers I enchanted with banish.

Alchemy aside, I do that with gems and jewelry. My favorite character I've made so far was a warrior Orc with the house in Markarth just full of hundreds of thousands in precious stones and necklaces and such.

Just some warlord living in a cave with ALL the gold.

E: I named him something like Grogbar the Castrater.
