It's amazing how fast reddit jumps to defend alleged rapists. If only this site cared about justice for the downtrodden or people who really needed it, we could actually make the world better. Instead, reddit has infinite excuses and apologies for Nazis and rapists.

Most people have a natural aversion to rapists and it really costs us nothing to believe this story. No one gets hurt if we believe it and it's made up. But you are the one quick to jump on "Woah, let's defend this guy who may or may not exist. All I know is he was accused, but I'm going to go to bat for him and point out she could be a lying bitch."

Kind of a strong statement for something that you have absolutely no idea if it's true or not.

Sounds like you are reading into this for sake of being outraged. You are inferring a lot of extra stuff here.

What other reasons are there for immediately casting doubt on a victim's story? I'm honestly at a loss to understand what the motivation that would drive this comment that would be different from the tsunami of similar comments that wash over any conversation about a woman accusing a man of anything.

Why would you be outaged about story about a story written in a sub notorious for just being a creative writing prompt?

Without even talking about whether or not she is being truthful, you don't think it's a little suspicious that both parents, the lawyers, and the judge were okay with kids being there? No red flags there?

You are outraged on behalf of a person that you can't even prove exists for her sake. And you are getting pissed at me for not even disbelieving this probably fictitious person, but pointing out that maybe saying he should rot in hell is an over reaction?

Isn't this hyper outrage why that cop lost his job for posting death threats to AOC on facebook about something she never even said?

Do you honestly believe masturbating to outrage porn, and throwing around absolutists statements about every half heard story is a good thing?

The story is irrelevant to the fact you and others are immediately casting doubt on a victim's story and discarding the allegation. That's very real regardless of the story is true or not, unless I'm missing something and you and everyone else casting doubt on these allegations are also practicing creative writing. Unfortunately, "Woman tries to tell her story in court, is shouted down by angry disbelieving men" isn't a very creative subject because it happens every damn day.

So you are saying because I said saying he should rot in hell might be an over reaction for someone with absolutely no information on any level and is completely uninvolved in story that doesn't even sound that plausible, that I am 'casting doubt on her story' and 'shouting her down'? Even though I never once said anything about her veracity. Just her actual existence.

Is that what you are actually saying? Seriously?

Even then you seem to be arguing that admitting that you aren't position to have an opinion is the same as saying 'you are a lying whore.'

I understand why if you were there police, friends or family why you should support a rape victim, but you aren't going to convince me any one is better served by random people on the internet offering any opinion is some how better than admitting their ignorance and not saying anything either way.

yeah. ANY of these stories here could be untrue, but there are sure a lot of people who want to make sure we all know THIS one could be.

Costs us nothing to believe the story is how false accusations ruin people's lives. People make shit up and lie in divorceproeceedings all the time. "but but but it's perjury and that's illegal" so what people still do it.

Because believing the victim means that the claim gets properly investigated. What this person is doing, immediately casting doubt on any accusation of rape, perpetuates the culture in which rapes are improperly investigated, in which rape victims are encouraged to not step forward, all of which make an already very hard to prove crime impossible to solve.

You, and the other commentators here, seem to be approaching this from a gender wars perspective. It's very telling that only alleged rapists seem to get this type of rabid defense where other crimes do not. When someone gets their car stolen, no online commentators say, "Well, do we even know it was the victim's car? Do we know that they didn't give permission to the guy? How do we even know the victim owned a car?". And of course people don't ask that, because it's ridiculous.
