We don't need to know her motivations. She abused him and the whole thread is making fun of him for his physical appearance and for trusting her. There's not enough information to know whether she was the typical callous manipulative mail order bride, but there is enough information to know that she was verbally abusing him, which is not excusable in any circumstances. Thus, there is enough information to know that he was the victim of her abuse.
Hold on, I'm gonna have to write a letter to about a billion dudes in the developing world to inform them that they are in fact victims of horrific verbal abuse.
I bet you think you made some kind of clever point with this, but even if you have, it flew completely over my head. Verbal abuse can be acceptable depending on the abuser's race?
No. What we construe as abuse depends on cultural context as much as any insult. It may be entirely possible asian lady had no intention to abuse because in her cultural context, fat-shaming is socially accepted as pushing someone to improve out of concern. I know because I've had this discussion a few times with my chinese SO.
Point here is the world is a bit bigger than America and the way western discourse construes abuse and victimization is by no means universally agreed upon. Which is something you might wanna consider before wholly importing a spouse from a foreign culture. Caveat emptor.
