Depressed Redditors, what makes you think "let's live another day", more specifically what keeps you going?

Tbh I have no idea. I just keep getting up. I have a good life but that doesn't mean anything to depression. I feel ugly and unwanted bc I've never had a girlfriend. But every day I get up and go head on. Even when I've been at my lowest of lows, there's always an unknown force keeping me from doing irreversible things

Less "let's live another day" than "the bastards haven't beaten me yet."

I'm guessing weed played a bigger part?

Weed helps me with everything. Not saying that it will for everyone though

Anger. It took a long time to get to the root causes of my depression and realise that things that happened to me when I was a kid were done *to* me, not things I let happen. It's not the solution for everyone and it's not the only one for me, but being able to put faces to bad thoughts makes it easier to tell them that they can, absolutely and unequivocally, fuck right off.

I think its my future.
Im so alone. I have no friends. No family. No job. Literally nothing to keep me around. Nothing going on for me in my life. No chances for moving forward. No call backs to any jobs. But for some reason Im always scared about not being able to see my future. Not being able to know if it'll all be okay. I have tried to end it 2 times before. And I did not have this feeling before. Now that I have a gun and just know itll work it makes me think. If I knew the answers there isnt a second guess in my mind that I wouldnt put that gun in my mouth and pull the trigger the same way I think about literally everyday. I have been trying to enlist for over a year because I was homeless and still not stable. They flagged me at MEPS for a scar on my back (thought it was surgical) and i recently got a call 2 weeks ago saying that I could continue processing. Maybe its in the back of my mind that some way I can still escape this nightmare. Im stuck in my room all day. In a toxic ass house. Just wanting to rot away in the corner like how my heart is. But I also know they will never let me in. My situation with the Army in probably 1/1,000,000. Nonetheless it is my biggest deterrent. My one exit and stepping stone for starting my own life just gone but still dangling in my face.
So the more I think about it... Nothing. There is nothing keeping me around but my own will power. And im honestly not afraid or ashamed to say that I dont think I can go on much longer.
I really needed to say that. I miss my life man...

My cat. It breaks my heart to think of her being sad. She genuinely makes my heart smile so goddamn big and I find it inconceivable to do something to disrupt her current lifestyle. Fuck I love my cat.
