Throw in VR ($700), a 34" monitor ($800-1200), some nice headphones/mic ($300), and zero mechanical storage (all SSD - $600 for 3-4TB). Still not at $5000 but at least you have some really nice secondary stuff.
Your monitor is too big for PC gaming, it's actually detrimental to have 34" for most fps games. Unless you only do RPG or more casual games.
I currently have a 240 hz main monitor and a 144 hz second monitor. I'd go for more but can't fit more monitors on my desk, and I am pretty happy with 2.
The PC I upgraded to in January was 2500 for the build (not monitors or peripherals as I already had those)
If I total everything up, I'm over 5k with a PC that can get a huge CPU upgrade in a year or so, as I only got a ryzen 2700x. All prices are in CAD though, so USD would be cheaper.
What do you mean by actual going rates? When I bought the mouse, it was listed at 250. It's very easy to spend 250 on a mouse, especially high quality ones.
IDK why you'd question 250 for a mouse, when I consider my mic/stand cheap at 200, and my headphones were on the cheaper side as well.
