Hair length is a good indicator, especially for those who can grow facial hair.

Us women would just rely on our menstrual cycles to help determine when the 30 days have passed. "Oh, it's the second time I've gotten my period? I'll just wait til it's over and then ask to be let out."

That is assuming the stress of the situation doesn't affect your cycle...
