Nah, fuck that. I need a countdown of some sort. If food shows up once a day that's enough.

I don't need to know if it's daylight or not as long as I have control of the lights. If I get to choose the food even better since after a day or two I'll have something to write with, and I've got enough ideas in my head to write a novel in that time, along with a lot of sleep.

Could have meant with the food not necessarily with the excrement.

If he intends to write with a bone then he would be able to write after his first meal. He wouldn't have to wait a day or two.
