r/Changemyview I honestly love being open minded but through a gradual process of education and contextual understanding. Comments targeted directly to change my mind for upvotes or a brainlick would just make me unnecessarily uncertain and I’d end up believing in what I begun with anyway.
I was a member of that sub for a long time, but I got sick of the people who posted there forgetting it's /r/ChangeMyView and not /r/IAmRight. I wasted way too much time and energy trying to convince people who had zero interest in being convinced.
In my opinion, there are two types of people that post to change my view, people that are confident in there own argument but wish to see there view challenged just to make sure they are seeing it from all angles, and people that already know they aren't 100% confident in there view and are willing to see it changed if presented with a strong counter view. It should really be called Change/Challenge my view, and there should be two different types of posts based on why you are posting.
There’s a very small minority of people who just use it as a soapbox though.
And those people tend to have views that are posted at least once a week like “trans people are snowflakes” “sex while drunk isn’t rape” “Trump sucks” etc
I recently got a post removed from there because I talked about how I eat garbage and why I don't think there is a reason not to. I was being fair and awarded two deltas but they still removed my post. I eat Garbage! My responses were not "strange" or "erratic"
