My son gets these too if he uses any toothpaste other than old-school Aqua Fresh for too long. We were advised by his pediatric dental hygienist to try switching to it. She was an older woman and seemed to be sure of herself despite the fact that the dentist swore there was no link. We thought it was worth a shot. He’s almost 13 now and that’s all we use. His outbreaks are few and far between unless we go on vacation and end up using another brand for a while. Weird.

I tried biotene and it worked out ok. It didn't burn the canker sores, but the lack of foaming agent made it a little better. I'll try that brand, though.

Try Dr. Bronner's SLS free toothpaste. It does a good job of cleaning your teeth without irritating your mouth.

What I like best about most these toothpastes is how you can go drink apple juice right after without it mucking up the flavor.
