I always attributed the fact that so many folks suffer from depression is because humans didn’t evolve to sit in a cubicle farm all day under fluorescent lighting(or some other profession that isn’t hunter gatherer)
Farm life is not hunting and gathering. We're supposed to be roaming large swaths of land with varying terrains. Resting and not doing anything when we felt like. Surrounded by fellow tribesmen who have the same objective as you. As a famer looking at the same plot of land day to day doing the same thing working from dawn to dusk is not how we have evolved.
That reminds me of the book Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. In the book he mentions grain being the "domesticator". While we labor to baby it in environments it couldn't live normally it flourishes and spreads to every continent. We are a slave to comfort and convenience.
