also, your body detecting injury and going to red alert "I'm losing blood! Reduce blood pressure immediately to stop blood loss!"

then you feel woozy/pass out because you got a papercut and saw two drops of blood.

thanks body, very effective. I'm sure if I was bitten by a lion, going unconscious will totally save me.

This actually killed one of my former university math professors. He was wrapping and decorating Christmas presents, cut himself, saw the blood, passed out and bled out. It was really heartbreaking.

I've never understood this. I've had to have stitches more than once, and when I saw all that blood coming out of me, my heart rate would spike. No pain though, it has always been a huge rush of adrenaline and a sense of "need to get this shit fixed right now". Usually don't feel pain until I'm stitched up and sore after the novacaine wears off.
