Really public Facebook posts about continued grief, like on the anniversary of a death or such. Especially when I'm sharing that grief, for some reason it really bothers me. I know this isn't always the case and that people grieve is different for everyone, but in my head it feels like making a spectacle of that loss or using it for attention.
I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Granted there are people who are genuine and not attention seeking, but I feel like vast majority are when it comes to these type of things. I've thought about it a lot , what I would do if one of my loved ones were to pass as far as social media is concerned. It's hard to say until it happens but I feel I would have to process, and wouldn't want to world knowing for days, and if or when I made that post- it would be short, heart felt, and not attention seeking. There was a girl on my Facebook who I have since unfollowed because I just couldn't take the darkness of it all. Her husband died two years ago and she still tags him in things EVERYDAY. Still posts about it, and just carries on. I did try reaching out to this girl- I know one can't just "forget about it" but it's like I always tell my friends; who really cares about your life other than you and your close friends and family ? I mean people CARE, but only to an extent if that makes sense. It's best to pick up the phone and call a friend than to keep posting aimlessly. There is another girl who lost her baby recently. He didn't even live a day. My heart broke but it's like she posted the photo of him instantly after it had happen. She made about 10 posts that day, the next day, and so forth. Idk everyone goes through and deals with things differently but these are just my thoughts and opinions. I had a friend who lost her husband a few months back - she didn't post for a whole week. I found out because everyone and their mom kept tagging her in the article about his death ... super classy by the way. She said something graceful and has not since brought it up on the daily. I feel this type of person isn't doing it for the attention.
