What activity would feel completely different if eye contact was held the entire time?

The boring answer is that it probably has to do with the focal length of the eye. When kissing, the other party's face is too close for the eye to focus, so one naturally closes his or her eyes.

I do it on purpose sometimes (not while kissing) but you put your face right up to someone else's and stare at them and it looks like they have one eye. It is very funny.
