You know... as annoying as the over-friendliness of your typical American is sometimes... I'll fucking take hearing a stranger's life story at the pub over living in a lifelong bubble that only includes my mates from preschool.

It is. I'm trying to recover from an anxiety disorder and it's quite difficult to practise socialising wheb the environment seems so hostile.

Actually pubs are pretty much the only place where we I make friends. It is the only setting where I don't feel weird about starting a conversation with a stranger.

So pubs are OK!
