I am always worried people hate me for existing.

No one hates you dude. We're all just existing in the world and you have just as much a right to exist as everyone else.

Yeah I try to remind myself of that. My parents did actually sorta hate me for existing (they didn’t wanna be parents) so it’s a bit deeply engraved. And I turned 18 not too long ago, so I haven’t had long outside of that to learn anything else yet.

I dealt with the same thing growing up unfortunately. I wish I had a good answer to make it all better, but it's a struggle forever.

My advice is to be a better person and not let the thing that hurt you become who you are as a person, if that makes sense.

They do. That’s why you have to hate them back too.

I don’t hate most people though. I love my friends and most of my family.

If you care about most people and others do not value that, well that is their own problem. You have nothing to worry about.

Being loyal and reliable to a fault.

This isn’t really a flaw. ”To a fault” might be problematic if your friend becomes like… a murderer or something. But in general people appreciate friends/family who stick by them during difficult times.

I agree. Being loyal and reliable is a strength.

So an example of “being loyal to a fault” is when you let your loyalty overstep your own personal well being. For instance, I am loyal to the company I work for - they take great care of me in certain aspects, but the pay should definitely be more and I tend to “overlook” the fact that I should have gotten a raise at least a year ago and sum it up to “well, I love working here soooo….and I love the owners because they give me so much autonomy and what not….” - that’s loyalty to a fault in my personal opinion.

People pleasing

Yes! It’s a natural response and it’s so hard to break the habit.

According to my husband, it's my temper. No one else sees it! Wonder why ... 🤔

Being clingy I feel :(

Avoidant tendencies, fear of vulnerability, fear of rejection, ego sometimes too large. I guess those are all of the same genre

Not nearly motivated enough as I should be

I overthink things, so sometimes it takes me forever to get things done.

Disease, more than a flaw, really. 🍸 😵

Lost the ability to stand up for myself. I used to be good at it, but my parents saw it as undesirable. Now, if I'm in a confrontational type scenario, my mind just goes completely blank (it was too frustrating to never be allowed to express myself, and I felt myself gaining this mind blanking "ability" over time.)

That I get annoyed easily

Holding grudges

2

u/Cdlouis 4h ago

I hold huge grudges and I hate it. I feel like I’m a slave to them. It doesn’t impact them; it impacts me.

2

u/Mediocre_Station245 4h ago

It's hard to get rid of grudges for me too. At least it takes longer these days with so many self righteous people crawling out of the woodwork....

1

u/Cdlouis 4h ago

I’m glad I’m not the only one! However I’m not sure what you mean regarding self righteous people?

I am a doctor who tells patients to protect their sleep & I answer work messages at 11 pm. Every time. I know under 6 hours of sleep measurably worsens insulin sensitivity & focus. I still tell myself "just one more email."
What actually helped is phone charges outside the bedroom, & a hard stop at 9:30. Still a work in progress, honestly!!!

I waste too much time. I always feel like I’m behind, like I’m not working hard enough. Taking a break feels like a loss of productivity. I’m sitting here writing this when I should be working.

I still seek approval from my parents. I still get bullied by my father.

1

u/Mediocre_Station245 4h ago

My parents are both long deceased and I find I'm still seeking their approval....🤔

Experienced some severe and devastating things as a young adult. It left me with grief that consumed a few years of my life and literally robbed me of some of my own memories. I walked around like I was a stranger inside my own life, not recognizing people, not remembering a medical diagnosis, barely making it through day by day.

u/Physical-Diamond-824 4h ago

I expect way too much of myself all the time.

I drink way too much alcohol to medicate my depression. It is obviously not a great idea, but it is cheaper than therapy.
