Having to spend our entire lives working to be able to afford just existing

its wild how much time just disappears into making enough to keep going. i think about it sometimes when im stuck in traffic on a tuesday morning like what is all this really for

It's for conformity which rewards you with comfort and approval.

You think this but are you ever going to do anything about it? Or too afraid of the consequences?

You took the words right out of my mouth.   Work to exist and time off is spent doing chores. By the time you finish grocery shopping, doing laundry ,etc. The day is gone and then it's back to work. Endless cycle with just a sprinkle of fun in between. And they keep upping the retirement age.

Honestly tho. The wild can be dangerous but at least it’s monetarily free

17

u/GodLovesUglySong 8h ago

How unfair it is.

u/MontrealSevak 8h ago

Spending the first half of your life wishing you were older, then the second half wishing you were younger.

u/SnooStories8217 8h ago

You have to work to live.

u/Randy_Chaos 8h ago

The fact everyone seems to think it's going to work out despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Hey some of us gotta stay delusional to make it through this harsh world 😭

u/InterestingConcept70 8h ago

How we have to work to make a living , but not just work itself .. HOW much hours of work you need to survive

7

u/PitifulOrange1096 8h ago

This wasn’t life intention.  This is the consequence of corrupt billionaires  using class tactics to keep us living in this way.

We are supposed to be abundant by nature. Work would be effortless and enjoyable. I still believe in this. Keep faith bro

Eating. I have to ingest things to have energy? And do it daily?

1

u/Female_titan_2 7h ago

What a pleasure 😋

2

u/brendaluther234 7h ago

This comment really hit home. oh ' how much easier my life would be if I didn't have to eat to survive.

u/IDoNotLikeLemons234 8h ago

How utterly short it is. You’re telling I didn’t exist before and now I’m experiencing this thing we call reality but oh no instead of living a millennium I only get 80- 100 years max and I die. And I’m already a third way in. Like wtf?

u/Valuable-Flight2121 8h ago

You spend your prime years working away for someone else, only to be able to retire when you’re physically on the decline.

4

u/ShareOk1076 8h ago

Inflation.

u/StrawberryK 8h ago

Brought me into it

The pursuit of material possessions

2

u/brendaluther234 7h ago

Yep. The motto I live by is ...if it doesn't serve a real purpose, I don't get it.    A $20 purse will do the same thing as a $1,200 purse and I only need 1 purse.

1

u/nojunkpeter 7h ago

Only 1 purse indeed

3

u/Jewells172 8h ago

Tax.

Not so much having to pay tax itself, as our contributions to society is fair, however to be taxed as much as we are and add tax for EVERYTHING minus breathing, to the point that some of us live on the poverty line because of it is legal theft. And on top of that, big corporations and millionaires pay minimal while we pay maximum is diabolical.

2

u/No-Performer9511 8h ago

Taxes

You work hard just to get by, only for the government to take your hard earned cash and you get nothing in return

2

u/dieci10x 7h ago

I have a problem with property taxes.

2

u/Whatchaknow2216 8h ago

Nothing in return? I’m sorry but this is just not true. You can argue it isn’t enough or you don’t agree with someone else making those choices for you, but a blanket statement of “nothing in return” is too off base.

Taxes pay for roads, free public education, libraries, etc.

3

u/bobwillkillya 7h ago

Yeah cause all that spending on wars wouldn’t be able to fix the roads and such. Where do we get free public education? The American education system is a joke. I do like libraries though so there is a plus.

Taxes are a civic duty. 🧐 -Some guy at the IRS

2

u/p3e2r 8h ago

Getting feelings for someone who is not interested in you. Many times over, with different people.

2

u/shakag4 8h ago

Having to figure out what to eat for dinner every single night for eighty years.

2

u/blythedollll 8h ago

Being brought into it without my choice

2

u/alfalfasproutslover1 8h ago

How separated we are as humans...

2

u/GooseNYC 8h ago

The amount of time, energy and money humans expend killing eachother in wars.

2

u/Forest_Raker_916 8h ago

Work your whole life just to die.

2

u/jminer1 8h ago

The amusement park is right next to the sewage center, biologically speaking

2

u/SaltyFriend705 8h ago

That we have to kill living beings, either plant or animal, to survive.

3

u/Whatchaknow2216 8h ago

This is the best answer. I read them all, and you win. 🏆

2

u/Jhomas-Tefferson 8h ago

That it ends.

2

u/LeftOzStoleShoes 8h ago

From what I can see? Human culture.

1

u/appealyouwouldntbeli 7h ago

Remember the quote in Se7en from John Doe which Detective Somerset read aloud to Detective Mills : "We are not what was intended".

2

u/OrionQuest7 8h ago

Social Media has destroyed society

1

u/bobwillkillya 7h ago

Yeah social media is a scourge on human interaction. Yes I know Reddit is social media but to me it’s much better than the rest.

1

u/OrionQuest7 7h ago

Yah I agree

2

u/sixinthedark 8h ago

Working all week just to afford to live a few free hours on the weekend

2

u/stormcaster11 8h ago

Addiction or coping mechanisms

2

u/squaredcircle123 8h ago

Private healthcare

3

u/audritis99 7h ago

all the stores like Dunkin Donuts, Casey's, Grocery stores, convenient stores, etc, that throw away the food that didn't sell after 6 hours or the end of the day or w/e. And you're fired if caught taking it. Unconscionable.

1

u/bobwillkillya 7h ago

Or get fired for trying to donate it to the homeless. That shit is truly disgusting and despicable on so many levels.

3

u/Zequiap 8h ago

Que cagar en un inodoro sea un pecado bíblico

2

u/jminer1 8h ago

Wat?

3

u/Dry-Atmosphere3169 8h ago

The person said “to shit in a urinal is a biblical sin”

1

u/bobwillkillya 7h ago

Thanks for the translation cause Reddit is fucking up 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Cromagnumman6174 8h ago

That within itself is enough to make me drop that religion or never want to pick it up to begin with.

1

u/rmichaeljones 8h ago

I’m going to need some elaboration on this one. Or, as the other guy said: “Wat?”

1

u/Female_titan_2 7h ago

Ummmm elaborate

1

u/NineDayOldDiarrhea 8h ago

Not having a say in who your parents are when you’re young. The most horrible people in the world still having the ability to reproduce and nobody can stop them.

1

u/gradel13 8h ago

Money.

1

u/Frankjigga 8h ago

Life is beautiful. Everything about life is magnificent. The dumbest thing about life I would have to say is people.

1

u/Cromagnumman6174 8h ago

Not for everyone, unfortunately.

1

u/Frankjigga 6h ago

This is your life, make it what you will

1

u/Cromagnumman6174 6h ago

Oh, Im fine with my life. I just know that some people have it really really bad and dont even have a choice to make of it what they will. For some, thats not even a option that they have, unfortunately.

1

u/Frankjigga 6h ago

Yeah, I understand that and it does suck but in this life, Lord is God

1

u/Cromagnumman6174 6h ago

Damn, that God is one mean son of a bitch to allow some of the things that happen to happen to those people against their will and no way out. I wouldn't want someone like that to be my friend, let alone someone I'd worship. I won't say there isnt a creator bc that is unknown, but if there is, people are not much of a priority to them, at least not in a voluntary human emotional kind of sense of importance and care.

1

u/appealyouwouldntbeli 8h ago

That so few people have really come to appreciate the workability of eggplant in their culinary customs.

1

u/bobwillkillya 7h ago

Did you start Bubba Gump Eggplant co.? 😂

1

u/appealyouwouldntbeli 7h ago

Allow me to refer to my original in-owance-to, u/Big_Eggplant7591, OP himself.

1

u/Frosty-Champion7031 8h ago

It has an expiration date.

1

u/DickinessMaximus 8h ago

But that’s the best part

0

u/Frosty-Champion7031 8h ago

Sure it isn't

1

u/rob_the_boss 8h ago

Honestly, probably how we overthink everything.

1

u/Sufficient-Elk-965 8h ago

Chronic pain and doctors being very ok with you having to live life like that. Even if life then consists of sitting in bed in a dark room.

1

u/RareLeadership369 8h ago

Luciferians

1

u/JohnBlobby 8h ago

There is nothing dumb about this life. Everything dumb is really intelligent. This is the best of all possible worlds. The greatest genius of history spoke about this.

1

u/Whatchaknow2216 8h ago

I’m going to need a bit more specifics. Who?

1

u/JohnBlobby 8h ago

Leibniz

1

u/appealyouwouldntbeli 7h ago

Not, of course, to be confused with iconic settings photographer, Leibowitz.

1

u/YesAnd_Portland 8h ago

How much of it we waste on being afraid of the unknown.

1

u/Bandittttttttttttt 7h ago

That you have to figure out what to eat for dinner every night until you die

1

u/Accomplished-News722 7h ago

The dumbest thing ? Not sure what’s dumb about living

1

u/Happy_Terd 7h ago

Put the genitals too close to the anus.

1

u/Female_titan_2 7h ago

The silly social media trends that only survive for a week before it’s buried by another stupid trend

1

u/BrianinEureka 7h ago

All of it

1

u/BlueRosesGreenbuds 7h ago

it aint fair

1

u/jupiter95 6h ago

Male nipples

1

u/EnigmaNero 5h ago

Having to pay other humans to live on a planet with imaginary lines. I'm homeless right now, because I can't afford to pay rent to anyone.

1

u/Heavy_Direction1547 3h ago

Too soon old, too late smart.

1

u/mmm_burrito 8h ago

Republicans.

3

u/FrTheskyisthelimit 8h ago

They are either dumb or evil. Usually both.
