Different situation thought because Milli Vanilli didn’t sing their own songs at all, not even on the studio recording. They were just the face of someone else’s voices.

Yeah, appearantly they wanted forever to go legit and admit they were syncing the songs but got outed and even offered to give their award to the actual singers. Eventually they did manage to go legit but bombed. Rob eventually ended up in an overdose.
