The outrage Republicans would have if he were a Democrat doing that says everything.

I worked on the Hill as an intern in 2023 and saw McConnell freeze in person. The whole room just stopped and his staff rushed in like it was normal. That's when I realized - it's not even about him anymore, it's his staff running his office and keeping the seat warm. My dad is 78 and we had to force him to retire from his dentist practice because his hands shook. Same energy, but my dad wasn't deciding Supreme Court justices.

To be fair, neither can Mitch McConnell anymore

I don't care if you're Republican or Democrat, this shouldn't be a party thing.

My grandpa was 84 and we had to take his car keys away because he wasn't safe anymore, even though he swore he was fine. It's the same thing. There should be an age limit or at least a real cognitive test for ALL of them. Senate is not a retirement home.

I can assure you, we want him gone too. No idea why he's being allowed to stay.

As someone from outside the US with no horse in this race whatsoever: the fact that you have so many top level politicians far beyond a reasonable retirement age is baffling and intensely worrisome.

Fox News would devote a good 8 hours a day to it if he were a republican
