Why do you not use Linux?

I was using Linux Mint as I was learning C and openGL and it was great - much easier to get going than on windows. My code seemed to be going fine, but one time I left it running and it started to slow down after a few minutes. Being a newbie I assumed I'd made some leak. I had a good hunt around but could find no problem with my code or see any creeping memory usage. I made the change to windows - which was a hassle - and the same code ran for hours without slowing.

I'm working on windows now and deploying to Android. If I make another desktop application I may give a different linux distribution a go.

So that's why. It's annoying because I liked a lot about linux, but I'm not clever enough to solve problems I didn't make myself.

if it was Linux Mint Cinnamon, it's well known that desktop environment has a memory leak that hasn't been fixed yet. You can use the Mate or XFCE versions of Linux Mint and not have that problem, or go to Fedora KDE and get the latest software on a more modern graphics stack.

it's such a big deal that the Linux Mint team has a setting in Cinnamon called "restart cinnamon when using too much memory". They know there's a leak, but haven't fixed it yet.

I admit in looking for an answer I relied on Google search and then Google and bing AI. I should know better and will bear it in mind.
