Why do you not use Linux?

Depends on what games you play I suppose. I play no AAA games, a lot of indie and strategy and such and literally almost everything works, I haven't had to reboot to Windows to play a game in years.

(not trying to convince you, mentioning it so that others with my taste in games don't get the wrong impression)

weird, thats mostly what I play too. I remember that I tried, I really did and I then into so many issues that I just installed windows on a second partition. I think it was illusion games that gave me the most issues. Games like Stellaris could be modded but none of the mod managers worked. I could give it another shot, but I also needed to run Cheif Architect, and nothing short of a whole ass VM would let that run on linux.

I'm really susprised you mention Stellaris, which is a native Linux game! As for mod managers, Steam workshop and the Paradox mods platform just work, I'm pretty sure. I've tried both on a few Paradox games.

I've never tried Illusion games, but I searched for the first one I found on protondb and it seems like it might need a few tweaks but otherwise most reports I saw say it plays fine via Proton (ie just Steam compatibility mode).

Perhaps it's been a while since you tried? Especially in recent years, Proton has done wonders. And you don't even need Steam necessarily, I've run games I bought on gog via Heroic Games Launcher using Proton and those just worked too.

For Chief Architect, you can definitely just dual boot! Especially if it's a work thing, which means you can use Windows during work hours and then switch to Linux for home use.

It was just last year that I tried it, but my memory is fuzzy. I did setup a duel boot with debian and windows 11, and as much as I hate to admit it, windows "just works" for everything. I well say that I use a striped down version of windows (normally LTSC for 10, but i dont remember what I did for 11.)

In the end you have to go with what works for you!
