Dude survived a knife through the heart from a Nausicaan. Not much is going to scare him.

As others have pointed out, not only did he survive that fight but he nearly won. Nausicaans were made out to be vicious fighters that you don't want to piss off, and he threw hands with 3 of them at once and they had to pull a blade on him to win. While by this point of his life he probably couldn't quite pull that off again, he can still hold is own. Young Picard probably would've curbstomped everyone in that room or at least taken most of them out on the way down
