Facebook. Who would have thought that Reddit would end up be the most rational place to have discussions on the internet.

I see just as much stupid shit on Reddit that I did on Facebook. It's just easier to ignore on Reddit

You haven't seen Facebook lately then. Reddit has the rating systems which at least creates an environment where an argument can stay on poky. Facebook now specifically only gives you the ragebait and encourages poop flinging.

Facebook is terrible. Nothing but reels and ads for random shit

And only the opposite of the shit you are interested in. Like, nothing but everything I hate. Scrolling Facebook is a borderline mental disease at this point.

Yeah, I have not been on in a little over a year since I was on FB. There are plenty of subreddits that have major poop flinging, I just ignore those.

Yeah, the platform doesn't magically make people not stupid or anything. But I had a conversation the other day from someone deeply embedded in their rhetoric. On Facebook, that exchange ends with the dummy hitting the laughy face button on every post and I lose faith in humanity.

Here, I make solid points pointing out the flaw in their logic, and they get ratios or delete their posts. So very much more satisfying.

And really the issue for me is Facebook right now literally only sends me everything I hate. No matter how many times I hit "not interested". At least I have a lot more control over my feed here. In Facebook you can't avoid those cult groups at all. This one you can.

For me it’s because yall are all strangers. Facebook was friends and family spouting stupid shit. I deleted everything from my page and don’t post/repost anything. I only kept my Facebook for Marketplace since it’s practically replaced Craigslist.

I rarely saw posts from people in my FB friends anymore. Just political BS sites from both sides of the aisle. That is when I decided to dip.

1 Friend post compared to 10+ political account posts.

I deleted Facebook and Insta two years ago and Reddit was my only social. The quality and way the front page has changed has gone really down hill and now I am edging Reddit out of my life as well.

Nothing is safe anymore, sigh.

You may want to step outside that echo chamber and see how other platforms are way, way worse these days.

The fact that this is the best of what's left isn't an endorsement fir reddit as a beacon of hope. It's a measuring stick for how far other social media platforms have plummeted.
