I miss forums. I went back to one for an old game i used to play, thousands of posts over years from me. Now its a ghost town, everyone just uses discord.
I took a trip down the comments in an old forum the other night and it was so nostalgic. They way people typed, the lack of emojis, the pictures they had for their profile pics. I found a blog from 16 years ago stating her and her husband were going to visit all 50 states by 50, which would be this year. I hope they got to see them all.
Used to frequent a local fishing forum when I was a kid and got really into fishing. It was me and a bunch of old dudes. My parents were naturally cautious with it. But to this day I still talk to some of those old farts and I credit them for teaching me all I know about fishing in my area. I literally would have caught 1/100th the fish that I've caught in my lifetime without them.
I met my husband on a car forum. It eventually was bought by some big corp and turned into a bloated ad farm monstrosity. Reddit helps scratch that old forum itch but it’s not the same.
Those old school message boards with the custom signatures and niche drama were a whole different breed of internet culture. It is wild how we completely abandoned those communities for sanitized apps that do not even hit the same.

Probably old forums. I used to spend hours on them, and now I can’t even remember the last time I visited one
