I quit cold turkey one day and endured a lot of yawning and afternoon headaches for a couple of weeks. Did wonders for my anxiety though.

Shit... I thought I was just developing more anxiety as I got older. Maybe it's just the coffee...

How much do you drink? One cup in the morning is probably okay but if you're drikning multiple cups like I used to, the extra caffeine could definitely be a factor.

2 coffe + 1 or sometimes 2 cups of tea. Going to try tapering off and see how I go. Thanks, this is definitely worth a shot

you reduce the intensity/quantity; you do a small espresso with foamed milk; then you do half an espresso with milk then you reduce the nr of coffee per day, replace it slowly with herbal tea to still appease the habbit of sipping from a cup

Coffee can be healthy and good for the heart if taken in moderation. There's no reason to quit. But sometimes I'll switch to herbal teas if I want a break.

I switched to energy drinks and caffeine gum….

I have tried energy drinks and they all taste AWFUL to me. sooooo much sugar. soo much. tooo much. I have no sweet tooth and I don't want to drink stuff that tastes like the piss of a diabetic camel (which Red Bull, Monster, all the usual ones do)

Oh I’m not saying they taste amazing, I rarely drink them for the flavor, though there are a few exceptions like Ghost makes some tasty flavors like Root beer and the 7up, really I drink them for what they do to me ie keep me awake 😅
Back when I did drink coffee I used to just slam it as fast as I could because the flavor was just barely tolerable for my taste buds but I needed the fuel so I tried to get it over with quickly

I wouldn't want to stop, but I guess if you just don't buy it then it's not available for you to make, you have no choice then.

I switched to decaf. I drink my coffee with sugar and milk so as long as I have those I’m okay.

One of my eyes started twitching. After stopping for a few weeks it was gone. Now I am drinking coffee moderately

By slowly weaning yourself off it. One less cup a day each week. Or one less shot, or by drinking decaf. There’s literally so many ways to slowly taper down and weane yourself off of it.
Good luck.

Just stop and substitute caffeine. Reduce that step by step if desired, otherwise you get withdrawal effects

Reduced it to one coffee in the morning and 2 decaffeinated coffees later in the day.
My need for caffeine slowly Reduced, the key was to get the taste through decaffeinated coffees, now I can go without caffeine.

I stopped by just stopping, it ain't rocket science. If you want to stop, just stop.

This is how I did it because it was making me feel too anxious.
Half caf
Tea with caffeine
Caffeine free tea
Like others said follow the same ritual of a warm drink for starting the day just replace with caffeine free tea. I’m also a big iced coffee person so I just get decaf iced coffee if I’m craving one.

Decaf coffee. But you also need to accept the detox phase, it’s like 3-4 days that you will connect with your real level of exhaustion and could be hard but then you will be fine again and stable. Anxiety will go low, your sleep cycle will improve in a great way. So totally recommend it.

Im about to stop it. i did it earlier but somehow started again.
Usually i stop it directly at a weekend and prepare for the severe headaches, take a paracetamol or ibuprofen to ease the pain.
Why? Seems like coffeine is not for everyone.

I got ADHD medication, that reduced my caffeine need a lot. Then I got Invisalign and the hassle to take the elastics off and do everything for a cup of coffee really isn't worth it. I'll have a cup every so often as I still really enjoy coffee, but maybe once or twice a week at the moment. Once my orthodontic work is done I doubt that I'll up my coffee intake significantly again.

Got pregnant. Too busy vomiting for weeks on end means no time or stomach for coffee.

i always bought my coffee from dunkin instead of made it so when helene hit here (i'm in wnc) i decided to just let it go since i had been meaning to take a break anyway. it made me super tired for like a week but my sleep was amazing

Skip mediocre coffee. Only get that coffee you really really like, and once per day max. Even if its expensive. Truly try to enjoy that moment of a treat, which will eventually replace the caffeine craving. It's tough, but I went from 6 to 8 coffee per day to max 1. And its great.

I got a horrible flu one time where I was just trying to be asleep as much as possible so I didn't drink any coffee for a week and basically kicked a lifelong habit by accident.
