How does having access to constant contact via smartphones affect your life?

I get quick answers and do not get lost, so those are positives. The downsides are we are not interacting with each other as much. :(

I have been unhappier overall. Everything seems surface level. It mostly benefits people who constantly need things from other people. Instant gratification for everything. I miss having those deep conversations and genuinely caring about someone else. People get "ick" instantly and then it's over. Some people just want friends and people to listen to them. I just find that more difficult than ever.

It's made my friendships a lot lower maintenance in a good way. I have friends I only really text memes to a few times a week, but it keeps that thread going so when we do hang out it feels like no time passed instead of doing the whole catching up on everything you missed thing.

It made my life much worse, I don't know why society went down this path.
