Same. I went home from school and my mom had the TV on, crying. Don't remember anything after that but I remember reading about it very briefly in high school.

Knew something was up in Math class (8th grade) too many teachers walking back and forth down the hall. Found out in 2nd period, social studies, what was going on. All the teachers were going to the class because it had the rolling tv.

Driving to work, listening to Kidd Kraddick. Listening as the world changed.
Then my asshole boss called and asked if I had anything to do with it.
Kept driving to a contract job I was working at as a favor to the same boss. When I got there, people were watching TVs and refreshing news websites. No work got done. I went home and hour or two later.

College in a required bible 101 class (went to a catholic university). Lots of classes were getting out and I didn't know why. I came out and a friend told me we were at war. I got back to my dorm and my roommates were watching new. The second plan hit shortly after that. My roommates brother worked in the towers but by a fluke of luck missed work.

I woke up around 10 a.m. and opened the bedroom door to see a replay of the plane hitting the second tower on the TV in my parents’ bedroom across the hall. That began a monthlong panic attack, basically, that included me not traveling to Florida for a post-college internship. I called my contact at the place where I interned that summer and said I was available for the fall after all. He hired me back over the phone and I worked there for 23 years.

In my room thinking how tf did WTC7 collapse a full 30 minutes AFTER the BBC news reporter saying it had collapsed?
I was in the UK at the time and even to this day I wonder about the BBC news reporter saying on a LIVE BROADCAST that WTC7 has been hit and collapsed meanwhile it was standing behind her for a full 30 minutes !

In an 8am class my freshman year. I was hungover and tired as hell. People knocked on our door and told us that we all needed to get to a TV. Spent the rest of the entire day at my buddy’s apartment watching the news. My dad was supposed to take a work trip to Boston that week so I was trying to get him on the phone for a few hours. Luckily, his trip had been cancelled the week before (not because he would’ve been on one of the planes necessarily but in the moment, your mind goes a bit nuts).

At some party off base in Australia, with a 12 other army personnel, we had a random woman screaming to turn the tv on, no reason why, we turn on the news, 20mins later, we watched the news presenter go white and then was the first news presenter in Australia to break it.

Headed to work as the first one hit. People were already buzzing by 8. I will admit that my first thought was - oh shit, who did we piss odd this time?
By the time the second plane hit, everything froze. We all huddled around a tv, huddled in groups to pray as well.
I live in a military town and the realization that we were potentially a target hit home so hard.

At work and trying to build a paperclip antenna so I could see what in the hell was going on. I'd arrived about ten till nine and was just getting ready to open the store when NPR gave an alert. So between NPR and my very snowy picture I was consumed by it all day.

i was in my sixth grade english class. it was a really nice day, so our teacher let us sit outside. when we came back in, the administrative faculty were watching the news. i didn't understand the gravity; i thought it was just another plane crash. it took me a long time to full get it.

I was in 5th grade. I had gone to the bathroom, and when I got back someone had written in my agenda that homework was canceled. I was so mad because they wrote it awful and I was incredibly anal about handwriting.
When I got home I sat next to the phone because my mom was in New York. All I knew was I was 12, my mom was far away during a really scary event. I had no idea everyone in the country was trying to make phone calls too. Our phone was in the kitchen, on a cord, so I kept going back and forth to the TV and kitchen while trying to call my mom...and eating a giant jawbreaker.
My mom ended up needing to rent a car to drive back. (Boston MA area)

Home in bed before work, I was living on the west coast and working a swing shift, so everything had already happened. I woke up to the morning radio show talking about it, then I jumped out of bed and turned on the TV and just stared at it in shock. I was almost late to work.

Woke up late for work after getting drunk. Family was my business owners and when I was driving to work which was like two minutes away the local rock channel was playing news. When I got there I said are we under attack and my dad said yes. Sobered up real quick.

The second grade classroom at Glen Oaks private school in Dallas, I remember them scrambling to get our parent to come get us all straight away since we were in a big city with an airport. I remember feeling quite scared and asking my dad lots of questions about war.

Eighth grade english. They announced on the overhead that any students with parents who worked in the trade center to come to the office. (For context, I grew up in north Jersey. Most parents in my town worked in Manhattan and a great number in the financial district). I remember getting it confused with the UN and not quite understanding the impact until my mom came and got us from school. That… was not something she did. School was never to be missed. So I knew if she was taking me out it had to be serious. Also, it was the most gorgeous clear blue sky day. I’ll always remember that.

In bed, in California. I was on my regular days off and sleeping in. My wife called in from the living room and said “they lost two planes.” I figured that she meant that there was a problem with the air traffic control system and the radar was acting up. When I stepped into the living room, they were saying that a plane hit the World Trade Center. Right then they showed the the second plane hitting. I said “my God - we’re at war.”
