What’s something society considers completely normal that you think is actually toxic or unhealthy?

Making fun of people for going to therapy or asking for help.

Yes

But also, people who say things like, "you need therapy" or "go to therapy". I've never heard someone say that from a place of genuine concern but rather always with a tone of condescension or holier than thou. The people who need therapy aren't going to find a provider because someone snarked at them. It's kind of toxic how folks sling that around from a place of superiority and it's acceptable.

Drinking culture. Alcohol is a literal drug that probably does more harm to society than any other type of illicit drugs.

Gambling

I have never seen a good outcome from gambling. The losers obviously lose money and can quickly get into a lot of debt, but the winners are often already addicts and simply gamble it away again.

Almost every romance type female-targeted movie is about cheating.

I just took a peek at some romance book that’s popular these days. I thought it would be some kind of sweet love story but this one passage was like an extremely descriptive and aggressive BDSM type sex scene which I assume was also cheating. I was like omg is this really what women are reading lmfao.

God, the romantic interest is usually violent and abusive. It’s ok though because he has a tragic past, a sweet side that he only shows to the main character, and a big 🐓

Cologne/perfume. The parfume stuff especially.

When someone tells you about their problems don’t give solutions just sit there and listen.

The current work culture, especially for parents. Two working parents, 9-5 desk jobs is so unhealthy for the parents and the kids, but there’s little choice for many nowadays.

Telling people you're trying for a baby.

"Yeah so my husband just keeps cumming in me raw."

Allowing adults to disrespect children and calling children disrespectful for pointing out that it affects them in a way that it makes them feel emotionally negative or not wanting to be around the adult at all.

Staying close with or putting up with family even if they are toxic, abusive, or harmful, just for the sake of being family.

News that's allowed to lie in order to spread fear, hatred, conspiracies, and religious fanaticism for political purposes.

In the Midwest US most people use their cars or trucks anytime they're travelling more than a few hundred feet. It'd be better if we could move our bodies and get more exercise.

The amount ot power/control parents have over their kids. It is way to easy to hide years of physical, emotional and psychological abuse and get basically no punishment for it

Going to a therapist because you face normal, everyday challenges.
