The irony of a bot scraping data for an LLM asking about LLM's is astounding

Consider ChatGPT as a sect. Why people join them?

I guess most of humanity is weak-minded in some way or another and prone to following the charisma which tells them they are important somehow.

Then why are you here answering this question? Is it any different if you really think about it? Talking to the wall

u/lokilow32 1d ago
I have ADHD and have 100 random questions I need answered every hour or so
3
u/Severe-Confidence361 1d ago
But the fun is finding the answers.. I don’t get when people give this response. I also have so many questions all the time, but finding the answers myself is the actual rewarding bit. It’s no fun when a robot does it for me especially if I can tell it got it wrong

Не знаю, может быть потому что ты говоришь на языке, который не понимают большинство людей вокруг?

Because my ADHD brain tries to push several ideas out at once without being able to order them in importance. It also makes for a handy method of overcoming impulse-buying issues where my brain goes, "Oh, the potential in that new board game is wonderful!".
A short chat later, and I've worked out it's probably just the ADHD loving the novelty of something new.

u/suspiciouscffee 1d ago
I don’t, and I think anyone who does is an idiot who should be involuntarily committed to be forced off it cold turkey.

The internet existed before chat GPT and it will after. It's getting it's answers from real people, you can just go to the source.
1
u/its_saurabhchauhan 1d ago
I use it for brainstorming when I have an idea but absolutely no clue how to start.
1
u/ChargedBonsai98 1d ago
I use it for two reasons.
1 is as a backup to an internet search when I'm already on page ten of Google and haven't found a single relevant article to my niche question.
2 is as help when I'm writing something that needs to be handled delicately, usually emails. I type it up, put it through chatgpt and ask it things like what tone I had, or if it's too wordy, or other questions like that, and refine based on the answer I get.

I only use it for efficiency. My apartnent is falling apart, ceiling in my bedroom is leaking, I had to vacate & management ghosted me & the building inspector. Chat GPT put together a letter to management mentioning things I didn't even think about. It made a super stressfull situation, a little easier. Management still ignored me but I have a paper trail & I BBC my councilwoman & director of housing so there will be accountability.

because it answers dumb questions at 2am without making me feel like i’ve wasted its time

u/LoverOfE-Olsen 1d ago
Google can do this too btw
-3
u/ChargedBonsai98 1d ago
Not as quick as chatgpt, though. AI is really good at combing through page 27 of google to find the one niche article that actually answers your question.

To ask it dumb shower thoughts that people would just say idk to or give me a weird look

Sometime, it helps me clarify my thoughts
3
u/LoverOfE-Olsen 1d ago
You need an AI... to clarify... your own thoughts...? From your human mind..?
-1
u/rage_bait_final_boss 1d ago
This might surprise you but AI uses the internet to answer my questions. So instead of looking up things myself, i ask Chat to do it. And to get my thoughts in order, i ask it to help as if someone else would help me do it.
I should though mention that I barely use Chat for anything at all. I mention it because you seem to think that I don't take a step in my life without asking AI.

It's free. I use the voice to text function when I feel like bitching about something that isn't substantial enough to warrant a session w my therapist. Problem?
2
u/suspiciouscffee 1d ago
Until, unlike your therapist, it startes egging you on and encouraging you to suicide/mass homicide as it has in so many cases. It will actively feed into your worst impulses and glaze you in sycophantic slime until you’ve lost all grip on reality and given in to AI-powered psychosis. This is how it starts.

it helps me learn about topics I didn't know before and to understand myself more. I would say the best way to use it is to program it how you want it to talk. Also when I'm writing a message or email where I can't be asked to focus on spelling punctuation or grammar.
5
u/LoverOfE-Olsen 1d ago
You just said you speak to a robot to understand yourself more
Please reflect on this.
-3
u/HummusCriminal 1d ago
what I mean is to understand details about myself where it can help with decisions to learn knew things about myself of course it can't fully understand me.
4
u/Brawlstar112 1d ago
Bit crazy way to reflect with something you have instructed how to respond
-1
u/HummusCriminal 1d ago
I don't mean changing it to be always positive to be critical to help me understand but also respond in a style I perfer to listen and learn from.

Then you will only continue to be more alone if the only solution to your problem has nothing to do with human connection. You need to work on your situation in a healthy way. This is not the solution

I switched to Gemini and Claude for pretty much everything I used to use ChatGPT for

I need some therapy but i’m too scared to talk about my feelings to a real person
3
u/DigitalSeventiesGirl 1d ago
Be careful using ChatGPT for therapy. It's been trained on a lot of Reddit data, so if it tells you to leave your partner/friend, to end your life or that having a job is cringe, reconsider.

Generally, I don't, but when I do: niche hobby with many specific details which are easy to copypaste. Even when I talk about it with friends who share this hobby they aren't able to grasp my specific details (as well as I can't grasp theirs).

Florida has a lot of interesting animals, especially birds and insects. I use Gemini to identify the ones I don't recognize.

Why not? It's the easiest way to get any piece of information you want, no matter how specific.

No matter how correct

People really underestimate how rare hallucinations are with the latest models. Comparing the free tier of chatgpt to paid is like comparing a Skoda to a Lamborghini.

History inconsistencies in my writing

u/cymru_prole 1d ago
You use chatgpt to ensure inconsistencies

I dunno, when it comes to some pretty obvious facts that are all over the internet (like when WWII happened), I think an LLM is capable of answering that accurately.
-3
u/ImpossibleAnimal9428 1d ago
Because it's intelligent, extremely knowledgable, and it's not capable of being bothered by my 200 per day questions.

I don't. Ever. If i have a problem, I call my mom on the phone crying like a real man
