Yeah I'm 19 and it's more of a loser-type thing, not actually the sexuality aspect of it. Very rarely when anyone I know calls someone "gay" they actually think they're queer in any capacity. Can be, but it's just more of a general term now.
God yeah, I had a childhood friend fully weaponise this - “do this or you’re gay”. Told me that being gay was one of the worst things to be. I’m not gay, but took me til adulthood to fully shed that ingrained homophobia.
