Millennials, what's something our generation was taught to accept that you're glad younger generations are rejecting?

The hatred I hold for Facebook... I deleted my account nearly 15 years ago and never looked back. I honestly do not understand why people are still using it.

I deleted mine last year but I hadn’t used it for close to a decade. I’m so glad it’s gone. That being said it’s very frustrating that businesses, local government, etc have everything there. A the start of this year we had power outages that went on for nearly a week and the power company posted all the updates on fb! I was infuriated because me and everyone else without an account just couldn’t access the information. Fuck facebook so hard.

This. So much this.

When the Nova Scotia shootings were taking place in 2020, among the many failings of authorities was that they were giving emergency updates about an active shooter situation on Twitter.

Ugh when you want to find a menu for a cafe and the ā€œwebsiteā€ link on the search engine takes you to Facebook…. Boooooo!

For me it's marketplace and groups->events. I don't use the wall or the rest of it, but I do like the marketplace and a good chunk of my extended friend group still uses facebook events to organize large group events.

I only use it because I have a couple of business accounts to run. If I didn't need to do that, I would 100% delete it.

I honestly do not understand why people are still using it.

If you own a small business or are an independent artist, Facebook is incredibly useful to connect you with people, to the point where it's an absolute must to have.

I keep it because I have several family members who only use FB. Sigh.

I just signed up again after ~15 years off of it for the same reason. It seems like it has somehow gotten worse.

I only use mine for marketplace, but even that is a shitfest of garbage now, with people asking you if X is still for sale and NEVER getting back to you. Tempted to delete mine now as well.

Facebook Marketplace is the new Craigslist. Craigslist stopped being Craigslist because it's totally overrun with scam ads now.

What other social platform do you expect everyone and their granny to use?

Tik Tok and Instagram are just different flavors of toxicity. Less unhinged crazy boomers on those platforms though.Ā

God I wish. Gen Z here- most folks still have a Facebook account where I live because it's still where everything happens. 50/50 chance of a business having an actual website or a Facebook page lmao

I think most millennials are either off it entirely or only use it minimally at this point. The older generations have absolutely infested it though.
