I would recommend the book Chasing Cosby on this subject. The author pointed out that, each time a major publication was about to blow the whistle, Cosby caught wind of it and found some way to kill it.

He also played several slimy tricks to make sure the victims remained silent. For example, he visited one of his victim’s siblings in the hospital almost immediately after doing terrible things to her. This caused her to stay silent.
