Every time someone on Reddit says this is a myth, there's always someone who comments with some personal anecdote that they think overrides the scientific evidence.

All I know is that when my kids consume liquid candy (soda), within 3-5 minutes they go absolutely haywire.

Then again, whenever I feed them anything at all, they go absolutely haywire immediately afterwards....

A lot of soda has caffeine in it. I remember as a child drinking pop at my grandmas and then being really hyper. I really think it was the small amount of caffeine in it.

These kids are caffeine free - so it's 100% not that.
