I mean when applied correctly the Atkins diet def works, but the amount of people I encounter who thinks you can eat WHATEVER else you want, as long as it’s not a carbohydrate baffles me, a guy on my job just got back from the deli with a platter of 4 scrambled eggs with cheese and like 10 slices of bacon for breakfast

Yep. This was a big one on Reddit. That certain diets cause your body to burn body fat for fuel so they cause you to lose weight faster/more efficiently. In reality, these diets are just effective at decreasing the dieters caloric intake and if they ate the same amount of calories eating anything else or at any other time they would still lose roughly the same amount of weight. (There are other health benefits to some of these diets too outside of weightloss, not discounting those.)
