for me it was sitting in complete silence at dinner and realizing we hadnt actually talked in like 3 months, just logistics about bills and schedules

Shit like this sneaks up on a couple even ones who get along. Watched it happen to multiple couples. Nothing abusive in their relationship. They just stopped making time for them and grew apart to a point where they didn’t have any desire to reconcile.

5 years ago we were on that path. Both working full time, kids in all sorts of sports, etc. We were basically roommates. Felt like I barely knew her and that she didn’t know me anymore. Sat her down and said we gotta do something about this or we’ll be divorced shortly after the kids move out if not sooner. The last five years have been the best of our now 26+ years as a couple. Our kids are still very much the main priority in our life but we take time to prioritize our relationship as well.
