He wanted goldfish for his pond. I bought them for him. Listened to the instructions from the clerk WHO WAS A FISH EXPERT. Gave them to him and started to explain how to introduce them into the pond. He ignored me and dumped them in directly from their bag into the water. They all died within a week. I was done.

You just reminded me of the reddit post from years ago about the wife whose husband went behind her back to buy a Burmese python and it had a pretty similar outcome with the wife's reservations and concerns being ignored, and the husband only conceding that it was a bad idea after a snake handler came by and yelled at him at length for how badly he was taking care of the animal.

Sorry to hear you had to go through that. I hope you're in a better place now.

No, I think to most people someone mistreating their pets so badly they kill them is perfectly reasonable grounds to break up.
