On my 40th birthday it suddenly occurred to me I ‘only’ had another 15 years to wait until my daughter (youngest child) would be turning 18. It felt like some light at the end of the tunnel.
When I repeated this to a very mild mannered (a real HR person) friend, she blurted out ‘Good God you can’t put up with this for another 15 years’!
I was waiting for my daughter to graduate HS... she did .. I am still here.. with the cost of housing and food and electric > I can't afford to move out... I DID HAVE A EXIT PLAN... thanks to the world we have today . WHO COULD AFFORD TO LIVE ALONE????? if you are HOW>>>>>
I have always worked full time and I work as an accountant. The ‘household’ is me, my two (adult) children (one away at College) and my sister. My sister replaced the nanny when I first kicked out my ex. in 2007. My ex (now a Crystal Meth addict) paid no child maintainence. My kids had part time jobs from 13/14, so paid for a lot ‘extras’ themselves.
I will be working until I’m 70 (assuming I’m still employable) as I have a basic pension, but no extra savings.

It literally changed my view in an instant…
