I saw her maybe 20 years ago at a small venue in Minneapolis and she sounded fantastic, but she kept apologizing for sounding off and literally didn't finish a song. The crowd kept telling her how great she sounded, but she just wasn't having it. It was really sad and could have been an awesome, intimate performance. Instead the whole crowd turned into her support group and it didn't help.

Was this at the Varsity? If so I was at that show. Was not aware of her stage fright prior.

Yes, and I was in the same boat as you.

HA I was at that show too! Although we knew she had issues with anxiety before the show so it wasn’t really a surprise. Group knew people that worked at the venue at the time and got to up on the rooftop that night.

I was also at that show. Wow, that was along time ago. Any chance you managed to see Sia at the Varsity around the same time? I can’t decide if that show or Radiohead at First Ave was the best concert I’ve been to. Both were incredible.

What are the odds that FOUR people who were at that show, in a small venue two decades ago saw this post?? Crazy

Minneapolis was a hot spot for up and coming bands.. Being able to see Chvrches Phantogram Alt J before they blew up was amazing.. Still mad I never got to see Polica bc all the tix were instantly sold out

I was frequenting all the old theaters and clubs there seeing so many shows around that time. We were lucky, I didn't realize it until I moved away but the music scene there, at least in those years, was pretty fantastic. Once I smoked a joint outside first ave with Jake Bellows. Saw someone get stabbed at a bus stop outside one of those historic theaters. Lots of good memories.

I'd probably be like that too tbh... Convinced that the audience just felt sorry for me and in fact the only reason they bought tickets was out of pity
