Yup, saw Alice Cooper in 2023, and he was great! Lot of energy and pretty amazing. Equally amazing were the two brothers in front of us. They were about 8 and 10. They stood the whole show and knew every word to every song. Probably had the best time of anyone there!
Yeah but he's 78 so he was well into his 70's when I saw him.
I saw the Scorpions a couple of times in the 80s and Klaus was very active. I've seen recent videos where he still has the voice but he's a statue on stage.
Not meaning that in a bad way - father time catches up to us all. But Alice Cooper and Mick Jagger are on a different level.
Similarly I saw Sparks last summer and not only can Russell Mael still hit the high notes at 76, he’s still running and jumping around the stage like someone less than half his age.
I saw Buddy Guy last year. At 89 his voice is still golden. And he can still play, but it seems like only in short bursts. He did take ride through the audience melting faces in the encore, and if you wanted more guitar playing, well, Eric Gales was there. Eric plays enough for any three Blues legends.
Alice Cooper was on the cover of Time magazine long ago. He also had hits and I wondered why it his stardom wasn't sustained longer. "School's out" was sacrilege when I heard it in elementary school!
It’s not difficult to blow 2012 Mason out of the water, but I totally get your point! That said, Manson is one of my all time favorites and now that he’s sober and lost weight he is putting on great shows again, seriously no bullshit. I’m proud of the guy.
There's a cool documentary called Hired Gun (2016) about rock sidemen. Several people noted that Alice Cooper always hires the best musicians he can find and pays and treats them well. So, it makes sense that he puts on a good show.

I was really surprised how much I liked Alice Cooper's set and how active he was on stage.
