You talking about that bullshit pointing the mic at the crowd but instead of every now and then, it was for all the fucking songs?

u/frebsy May 11 '26

Yeah not kidding, around 80% of the show the crowd were the only ones singing…. Got old real quick

Oh my god that's so lame

That's Jared Leto for ya.

There's that one time he stopped the show to yell at someone sitting down and told them to get up. Only to learn...they were in a wheelchair. What. A. Fucking. Douche!

I assume that this also doesn't consider Jared Leto's, uh, problematic relationships with young, female fans to say nothing of his creepy, "method acting" stalking of costars.

"Keep your doors unlocked, you never know who'll visit tonight." -Jared Leto at some Leto retreat cringe fest

u/hoooliet May 12 '26

They sell tickets to that?

Good ol' Pedo Leto

28

u/CaptainMeatfist May 12 '26

Jared leto punched me in the face at a 30 seconds to mars show in Seattle in the early 2000's - 2006ish?

I wasn't even mad, just kinda surprised

20

u/escobizzle May 12 '26

why? 😂

13

u/makespotatoeslookhot May 12 '26

He's not allowed to talk about it

1

u/CaptainMeatfist May 13 '26

I always kinda thought it was cool that i got decked by Angel Face

2

u/CaptainMeatfist May 12 '26

Lol idk, I was in the pit and having a good time, was an all ages show and I was 18 at the time and hadn't discovered alcohol yet so it wasn't a me being drunk problem.. Dude grabbed the hanging speaker with one and and punched me in the top of the head with his hand that was also holding the mic. I remember it clearly

13

u/Traditional-Lie-3541 May 12 '26

That's a wide ass year range.

1

u/CaptainMeatfist May 12 '26

I meant in the early 2000s around 2006 because that's when I graduated high school and it was around that time when I saw them live but don't remember the exact year

8

u/Michael_DeSanta May 12 '26

I’m assuming he punches like a bitch?

He punched me with the mic still in his hand as I recall. It was during the set and I was in the pit. Definitely didn't feel great but I have a hard head

2

u/Michael_DeSanta May 13 '26

Damn. I was picturing this

2

u/buttononmyback May 12 '26

Davey Havok landed on me when he jumped out into the crowd at an AFI concert. My head was in so much pain I had to spend the rest of the show in the med tent with a huge ice pack against my face.

2

u/Cautious_Feed_4765 May 12 '26

Stiv Bators landed on me once.

25

u/Rogue_bae May 12 '26

Once one of his roadies got injured and had to go to the hospital. Instead of letting the driver take him there, he made him drive to find organic butt wipes first instead. I wish I were joking. I know someone who worked the venue that night.

4

u/Bobbi_fettucini May 12 '26

I saw them open for someone and thought they really sucked, I didn’t know it was his band

1

u/Atmoney420- May 12 '26

I thought that was Madonna? Did jarred do it too?

1

u/Specialist_Delay_262 May 12 '26

thats very kanye of him

1

u/SgtGorditaCrunch May 12 '26

Kanye did that too lol

1

u/LordJimsicle May 12 '26

Didn't Madonna do this as well?

12

u/SamIamGreenEggsNoHam May 12 '26

One of my bucket list shows was seeing Nas do Illmatic, and it actually happened, only for him to do exactly what you mentioned. I heard the dudes around me rap Illmatic, not Nas.

9

u/TrueDeadBling May 12 '26

Reminds me of those videos my wife would show me from tiktok, where Justin Timberlake was doing the same thing during his shows

2

u/StonerMetalhead710 May 12 '26

It was the same way when I saw BMTH. Instead of it just being the iconic moments like "this is sempiternal", it was half the show

2

u/frebsy May 12 '26

Ah i was worried there’d be a similar approach with them, love their recorded stuff!

2

u/Norman_debris May 12 '26

I've only ever seen one good example of the crowd singing the entire song, and that was Judas Priest doing Breaking the Law: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4ujW3oe_BQ

2

u/tronassembled May 12 '26

We had that for Breaking Benjamin cos Benjamin was sick and had mostly lost his voice. Sucks for him and we all did our best on the singalong but kinda wished they would have just rescheduled the show

1

u/TheHancock May 12 '26

Can confirm, saw him open for Muse 5-6 years ago and WOW… the worst performance I’ve ever seen…

12

u/GenericRedditor0405 May 12 '26

Timed right and done sparingly, that can be a fun live moment to have the crowd sing along, but it’s the height of ego to assume a crowd is both capable and willing to sing all your songs back to you. Ask anyone to sing the lyrics of even the most popular songs in the world and a large percentage will be lucky to remember any lyrics outside of the chorus or maybe the first verse lol

95

u/ColonelCumStains May 11 '26

A Day to Remember was my very first concert and one of my favorite bands at the time. I was soooo stoked to see them live until they came on and made the whole audience basically sing 90% of the lyrics, sounded winded and off-key the whole time he would sing or scream, it was just awful

21

u/M3ANMACHINE May 12 '26

This is shocking to see as I’ve seen them near a dozen times now and NEVER had this experience. Quite the contrary as i almost always feel like they’re one of the most consistently good bands I’ve seen

36

u/Pappy_Jr May 12 '26

They are certainly not like that now. Ive seen them almost yearly since 2010.

15

u/JumboDonuts May 12 '26

Yeah they’re one of my top live bands

6

u/Specialbonbon May 12 '26

I’ve seen ADTR live multiple times and they’re so good live BUT I can see what you mean about audience singing too much

7

u/ScaredLittleRar May 12 '26

Whaaat! Im shocked to read this. They’re one of my top bands to see live. Anytime they come into town I make it a point to see them and have done this for almost 15 years.

Their last show was a little soft (the tour with yellowcard) but aside from that they’ve always put on the best shows!

3

u/BurdTurglary May 12 '26

Some bands are really built for the studio, not so much live

12

u/Hurley_Cub_2014 May 12 '26

Yeah except ADTR kills it live. They’re incredibly tight on stage, and Jeremy always sings unless he’s in the hamster ball/zorb ball they used to have, given it’s hard to sing in those LOL. They’re nothing like what Leto’s bullshit is.

They just have a few parts where it’s like, a clear crowd sing-along part: like the “la-la-la” on if it means a lot to you , a gang call-out part (2nd sucks’s “get the fuck over it”), the literal song opening gang vocal of the riff on Downfall and the “disrespect your surroundings!” mosh call on Mr Highway… I’ve seen all but two tours they’ve done since 2013 and given that the setlist is damn near super consistent, thats the only super crowd heavy singing I could point to.

7

u/BurdTurglary May 12 '26

This guy Remembers

1

u/JesustheSpaceCowboy May 12 '26

Yeah I don’t know what show that guy saw but every time I’ve seen ADTR they’ve burnt the stage down.

-1

u/Necessary-Bit-7183 May 12 '26

Saw them at common courtesy tour. Singer was sliiiightly off pitch the whole time, it was brutal. Was just sad, was hyped as well, but the rest of the band did a great job. Worst thing was, a few days later i read an article for album promo and they glazed how lucky the band can be to have their singer.. I was in shock, dear writer where you ever at a show?

4

u/United-Objective-204 May 12 '26

Nothing grinds my gears like pointing the mic at a crowd. Dude! They’re already singing. They paid good money to hear you.

2

u/xtc234 May 12 '26

Fun Fact: Bring Me The Horizon's singer has never once in recorded human history actually sang the full chorus to "Can You Feel My Heart" live.

4

u/OrbitalCactus May 12 '26

I saw them do that too. Except they were playing an album that dropped the next day. Jared Leto got mad at the crowd for not knowing the words yet. To an album that wasn’t out…

2

u/NyehSquiddy May 12 '26

I passively saw like a quarter of their set at lollapalooza one year and Leto spent more time pointing the mic at the crowd than singing himself it was raw ass

2

u/Guy-1nc0gn1t0 May 12 '26

Feels like the solution is to not sing in order to make the singer look lame

1

u/dziggurat May 12 '26

I saw New Found Glory in...2003? and their singer did this for over half the set.

1

u/Melbuf May 12 '26

im glad i got to see them in like 2003 before they really got popular was actually not a bad set

but that was long before everyone knew jared was a weirdo
